UNO Orienteering Camping Weekend
September 11 & 12, 2010, Pawtuckaway State Park, Raymond, NH

The Orienteering
Map: 6 color 1:10,000 Produced 1992 for the World Cup Courses, Updated in 2001 and 2005. String (tots to teens), White (trails), Yellow (just off trails), Orange (a bit harder), Brown (advanced short), Green, Red, Blue (advanced long) plus the famous Saturday night “Vampire-O”, Canoe-O, a “Wicked Hard Night-O” and a Mountain  Bike-O. 
Please register (click here) by the Wednesday September 8 so we can print enough Mt Bike maps (No obligation, you can always change your mind).


Check-in and starts are 9am to 1pm on Saturday and 9am to noon on Sunday. Master maps will be used and the cost will be: $8 advanced courses, $5 White or Yellow; $2 for an extra map. Registration will be at the Group Camping Pavilion (follow signs).  2010 Course Setters: US Orienteering Team members - Samantha Saeger and Ross Smith

The Directions
Take NH 101 East (towards the seacoast) from Manchester. Take exit 5 and turn right on NH 107 North. Turn left on NH 27 and then immediately right on NH 156. Go 1.3 miles and turn left on Mountain Rd. Go 2 miles to the park entrance. Follow “O” signs to meet registration/ start.

The Camping
We will be using the Group Camping area, Friday and Saturday nights.  Rates are $28 per family, including 2 adults, per night. Additional adults are $14 per person per night. These are sites in the woods around the Group Camping Pavilion. You can drive your car near your site to unload, and then park in the parking lot. They are very convenient to the Group Camping Pavilion/meet HQ. Lex and Pete Bundschuh are coordinating reservations for these sites. Site selection is first-come, first-served on Friday and Saturday. Contact Lex and Pete (number listed below) if you are interested in reserving a site so we can have your name at the camp office for a parking pass. You can
also reserve a site at Neal’s Cove or one of the other regular park campsites. If you have made arrangements with the Bundschuhs to stay in the Group Camping Area, you still need to stop at the Park  Headquarters for a parking pass. The Bundschuhs will be collecting the camping fee for the group camping area at the Group Camping Pavilion. If you have a camper or pop-up, you need to call Reserve America directly. Note: NH Parks have contracted with Reserve America to take reservations.

The Park will be charging a Day use fee to non-campers.
Sorry, no pets allowed in the park.

The Dinner
UNO Camping Weekend has a Saturday Night Pot Luck tradition. The meet organizers will provide the hot dogs and hamburgers, veggie burgers and dessert (condiments, plates, cups and plastic ware, too) for an unbelievable $6 per adult, $3 per child 6-12, under 6 free. Everyone is asked to bring the potluck fare to share. Please label your dishes and utensils! Last names letters A-L: bring salad-type dishes; letters M-Z: please bring appetizers (we are requesting that you be a bit more creative than just a bag-o-chips!); Everyone: BYO beverages. Please bring a lawn chair if you can. Money will be collected at registration.

Canoe-O
Available Saturday and Sunday, 60 minute time limit (score-O format). Bring your canoe, rent one nearby or wait in line to borrow one.
Course

Vampire-O
The Olafsen’s will again host this famous family friendly night-time event. Vampire-O is a blend of flashlight tag, orienteering, and fun. Register on Saturday at the Group Camping Pavilion. Course setter: US O-Team member Erin Nielsen

Radio-O
Bill Noyce will set up a course. Instruction will be available.

“Wicked Hard Night-O”
Will be mass-start, with several length options, and will be a journey into the grinning teeth of Pawtuckaway in darkness. It will start shortly after the “Vampire-O.” You should be able to comfortably complete advanced courses (Brown/higher) in daylight, and must have two independent lights. All who have participated in the past have had a great time. Anyone wanting to participate is strongly requested to email jjcoteorders@verizon.net by the Wednesday before camping weekend so that he can print enough
maps (no obligation, you can always change your mind).
