Type of Event: Adventure Race, 1st race of a 3-race Series NEARS-1

Distance: Approximate 20 miles, 3-6 hours to finish

(Built in cut-offs to ensure that novices get to do all legs of the race......but not all the distance!

Support: NO support required or needed.

Disciplines: Mountain Biking, Running/Hiking, Paddling, Navigation

License: USARA license required per person, $8 for single event or $35 year.

Start Time: 12 noon on Saturday, May 3rd, with registration and gear staging beginning at 8:30am

Location: Pineland Farms New Gloucester ME

Cost: $240 per team of 3, single gender, masters (40+), corporate (co-ed is the premier category -ranked higher, 2 person teams will be ranked lower).

Late Registrants (after April 11) No guarantee of T-shirt, but you may still register. We prefer earlier registrations!

Registration: Until Monday April 28 if space exists.

Award/Prizes: Prizes for top finishers in each category (category must have at least 3 teams) cash to top co-ed team, teams earn points toward overall Series Winner.

New England Adventure Racing

Up to 25 miles of Adventure Racing in and around ME.

Registration takes place between 7-9am. Race starts at Noon and runs until 6pm with awards following.

Teams of 3 (coed-elite, male, female, masters and corporate-all from one company) (must have a minimum of 3 teams per category to score)

The course will be roughly 25 miles, with the legs broken up by thirds by time to complete (or maybe unequal legs) The maps are pre-plotted with checkpoints marked on the maps which are handed out at the start. Half the "fun" of an adventure race is not knowing what order the legs are in or if there is more than one of each leg. See our Frequently Asked Questions page for more info.

Time cut-offs ensure that everyone can finish and still participate in all legs, a great way to try your first adventure race!
