This is a USARA National Qualifier! Teams of 3 will paddle, trek, and mountain bike the rocky terrain of southern New Hampshire all while using detailed orienteering and topo maps to navigate from point to point. This race is ideal for the experienced team, and for strong navigators. 

The Basics:

Time: 6:00 AM
Price: $390/team
Distance: Approx. 40-50 miles, 7-12 hours to finish
Team: Teams of 3 (coed-premier, all male, all female) (1 or 2 person team allowed unranked)
Location: 31 Mountain Rd. (Off of Rte 156), Pawtuckaway State Park, Nottingham, NH 03290 (Meeting at Beach parking lot)

No support needed - all gear is pre-staged.  No plotting - pre-plotted maps are provided

To our fellow Adventure Racers -
Racing Ahead will be unable to host our 12HR race (the 3 HR will still be held)
Most of you will remember our dedicated family helping at all our events. Our daughters and their husbands/boyfriends as well as Steve's mother (Phyllis) who at 80 years old was still helping at all Racing Ahead's events.  We have learned that Phyllis has an unoperable cancer and won't be with us for many more months. 
Steve and I have made the decision to dedicate this summer to Phyllis rather than spending weekends away scouting the extensive 12 hour race course for Racing Ahead. 
We are sorry have to make this decision, we know that for many of you this was your only 12 Hour adventure race this summer, for others it was a good chance to grab that $400 prize toward Nationals.
You may still race our 3 Hour this year or wait until 2011 for our next 12 Hour AR

The Nitty Gritty ---
Teams: 3 person teams, either coed or single gender. Coed is the premier category and will be ranked higher. 2 Person teams may race, and will rank below 3 person teams.

Support: No support is required, you'll pre-stage your gear with your vehicle at the beach parking lot.

License: USARA National Qualifier, USARA license required; $35 per year, or $8 per single event

Disciplines: Mountain biking, running/hiking, paddling, navigation.

Maps:  All checkpoints are pre-plotted.  Orienteering and Topo maps are provided.  Additional maps are allowed (but they won't help!)

Awards / Prizes: Top finishers in each category (must have at least 3 teams in category)  $400 towards Nationals to top coed team

Packet Pickup: Friday evening 6 - 8pm

Registration: Online - Will open in May         (After 8/20/10 - NO Guarantee of t-shirts, but no price increase)

Refund Policy: All but 1/3 of the entry fee (considered the deposit) is refundable up to 4 weeks prior to race start. After 4 weeks, anything over the deposit is redeemable within one year for credit towards a Racing Ahead, LLC event.
